SMS Mobile Marketing Strategies

I recently came across a sms mobile marketing strategy that caught my eye because of an old advertising trick.

Let me explain.

If you've ever worked in the advertising industry or studied anything about marketing then at some time or another you probably heard that sex sells.

Yes, it absolutely does.

Especially for products or services aimed at men.

In fact.... this is how car magazines have been sold for years.

Ok, so what does this have to sdo with mobile marketing?

Plenty..

Have you ever thought about pitching your sms services using a video with some really attractive women in it...

Chances are you probably haven't, but the tactic, as simple as it is..works really well.

Check out how these guys exploit this technique to get you to watch their video.

Qr Code Uses: What You Can Expect To See In 2012

Ok so here's a quick heads up on how you can expect the qr code to be used in 2012.

First off, you will see this little square bit of information popping up everywhere.

Nothing really new there.

Businesses are finally starting to get it when it comes to using qr codes.

But there is still something missing.

And it has to deal with the public and their full understanding of what they are and how to use them.

This has been one of the major reason why the codes haven't been used even more .

However, you can expect the way the public learns about the many different uses for qr codes to change.

How?

This will come from news organizations as well as television.

To hit mainstream, the good ole tv set will become the medium that does this. You'll start seeing qr codes used in programming as a way for the public to get the latest updates to their mobile devices as well as explaining how to use the codes.

This will finally lead to mainstream understanding.

And ultimately..it will lead to replacing the use of url's.

It will be much easier for the consumer to just scan the qr code to get new info as opposed to trying to remember a url.

Plus with the qr code you can deliver different types of information instead of just sending people to a website where the consumer feels like he will just be pitched another product.

In future posts here on this blog I'll show you how to take advantage of this knowledge so that it can make you some nice cash.

And One More Mobile Advertising Trend for You To Consider

So I felt like giving you one more mobile advertising trend you will see coming in 2012.

Think voice actions.

As in Siri.

With both apple and google offering voice actions to it's users...they will now have a more direct way of getting answers as well as being able to produce actions with their smartphones.

You should also be on the lookout for touch friendly image combinations that can be used to further refine certain types of search results.

This will lead to reduced dependency on text for both search and for logins.

Hell, right now I'm having Siri do some searching for me while I type out this message for you.

Whoops...she has just told me about a local sale on tablets.

Gotta run...

Mobile Advertising Trends For 2012

Ok so I'm sitting back in my recliner this morning thinking about how much time I'm going to spend on buying myself some new toys today. I hate when my gadgets get old and I'm not sitting with what's new and what's hot.

While doing my thinking I came up with the idea to write a quick post for you guys about what I see as major mobile advertising trends for 2012.

I don't really feel like writing a long drawn out post here so I'm gonna just spill the beans.

Mobile advertising Trend -1

The continued importance of sms.

Yep...just when you thought that sms would disappear...it's poised to stick around.

With over 90% of the population carrying around a cell phone and with over 98% of those phones coming equipped with sms capabilities right out the box - it makes using sms one of the most popular ways of communicating.

Then with it's ease of use combined with it's low cost...and you throw in the fact that cell phone companies are still touting unlimited texting plans..you have the perfect combination for sms messaging to still be a major force in 2012.

Mobile Advertising Trend - 2

Mobile sites or Mobile Apps, you decide.

This one trend I can see as being a real doozy.

Why?

Because marketers are still struggling with the answer to the question of which one do they choose.

If you were to take a look at the major players like Google and Apple, you would get two entirely different oppinions about which direction you should go.

Mother Google is betting the farm on mobile websites...while The Warden of Cupertino is banking on mobile apps.

So as for now...there is no clear winner. With no platform really being the go to platform for consumers and with so many operating systems and different sized devices as well as screen sizes...it's a lot for a marketer to consider.

Furthermore...be on the lookout for a much larger debate on where mobile is going.

Mobile Ad Networks: Meet the Company That Beat Google Mobile At It's Own Game

Imagine that you're a 17 year whiz kid who comes up with a cool idea for letting your buddies sing their favorite songs and the the app automatically synchronizes their voice with the music.

You start to think about the many ways in which your app can be monetized with the first idea being to place advertising for your app in one of the mobile advertising spaces.

So you head on over to admob (googles mobile advertising site)

You place you ad on there.

In just a few short weeks your sign ups go from 30,000 to 170,000...but your revenue stays flat.

What would you do next?

Well here's what one teen did that blew up his CPM's from just in the neighborhood of 50 cents to CPM's hitting at $80.

He dumped admob and switched to a brooklyn based company called Pontiflex.

This company is helping small time people make real money.

And that's right up my alley.

I can't say that I will completely kick admob to the curb...

But using a company like Pontiflex will definitely be an considerable option.

Free SMS Marketing Strategy: How To Make Sure Your Text is Read and not Deleted

I actually swiped this next strategy from a company that had an outrageously successful campaign where they were sending out bulk sms marketing messages...so I figured what the hell, why don't I dig into their method and see if I could come up with something useful to give to you.

If you were in my position and wanted to do something for your readers then you'd do the same thing wouldn't ya?

Of course you would...

Ok...

Onward to the text marketing strategy that will make sure your text message gets read and not deleted.

After digging into 24 text messages I received from this company on my cell phone...a couple of things really stuck out in my mind.

One of them being...why in the hell was I always reading them. Why didn't I just hit the delete button as I normally do when I receive text message from other knuckleheaded companies.

And why was I looking forward to seeing them..Grrrrrr

Well as it turns out...They hooked me.

Nothing really new there...in marketing circles this happens all the time.

But what I wanted to know was how.

They used what I like to call "Mobile Glue"

The giving away of promotional codes and digital coupons as a "take-away"  from their promotions.

I looked forward to them because I was always receiving something good that I could use and that benefited me immediately.

People who are looking at text messages from companies on their smartphones are in the frame of mind of what do you want...and what's in it for me.

Your job is to answer these unannounced questions.

Give your subscribers something that is both useable and useful along with being relevant. I go over how you can do this in greater detail in posts in the mobile marketing section in the forum. But the idea is really simple. As long as your subscriber gets the combination of those three things then they will read your text messages and not be looking for the delete button.

The QR Code Business Card Generator

I'm the kind of guy who doesn't carry around a ton of business cards for my business.

In the past I used to do that and then I would attend local chamber of commerce meetings and start passing them out by the dozens.

It was a way to get my company out in front of people who were potential prospects for what I was doing at that time. ( I owned a transportation company)

But the issue I always had was that my wallet was huge....it made me look like I was carrying a giant wad of cash, but in reality it was just all of my extra business cards.

Long gone are those days.

Thank goodness.

Today I use QR code generators to create my vCards.

There are tons of companies out there that can create QR code business cards for you.

To find them all you have to do is type in your location along with the phrase qr code business cards after it and you should be able to find companies in your area who can create these little conversation pieces for you.

But just in case you're lazy and don't want to do the search..

Then I have a company that I've worked with before that can create quality business cards for you at a reasonable price.

They are called yprintit.com (not affiliated)

Part of the reason that I like them is because they have a really cool app to go along with their site. And being that I love apps, I had to give them a try.

Mobile Advertising Trends: The Rise Of the Clever QR code

I'm digging into my swammy bag for this next post.

It's actually my look into the future a bit and to give you a quick glimpse of what you can use as an angle for getting new prospects for your  business.

So ladies and gentlemen...without further ado...

The Clever QR Code.

Yes, I know I know...you've already seen qr codes.

They aren't new.

But what will be new are the ingenious and downright clever ways in which qr codes will be used to grab attention.

I'm predicting the ability of QR codes to really make a push to be integrated with apps.

It's only a matter of time before this starts to happen.

And when it does, it will mean an entirely new way for you to pitch and create mobile marketing campaigns for both you and your clients businesses.

I cover this topic in greater detail in the mobile marketing forum as there is quite a bit more trends that will become major hits in 2012.

Of course I'll continue to keep you updated on the latest mobile advertising trends with what I find that will be of help to you.

So don't forget to check back in.

Also...if you like what you've read here, why not recommend it to a friend.

Text Message Marketing: How to Write The Perfect Text Message Advertisement

Last month over in my mobile marketing forum I created a post that talked about using text message marketing and how anyone (that includes you) could write out the perfect text message advertisement.

I outlined a few simple steps that would take less than five minutes to implement but would also lead to you writing text messages that made it through all of the clutter your prospect has sitting around them.

So today I thought I'd share with you one of the insights that I gave to my members.

Ok...so without further ado...

Here is what I taught them.

When you are writing your text message, always always always remember to start your text message advertising copy with the deal.

I'd like for you to read that line again because it's important. If you screw that up then the rest of your message is dead on arrival.

To understand why this method works so well you only have to look at the frame of mind your prospect is in when they receive your text.

They aren't in the frame of mind where they are looking for a boat load of information...so if you bury your deal too far down then your prospect will simple click delete.

The frame of mind your prospect is usually in when they opt in to receive your message is in the instant gratification mindset.

They want what they want now!

Not later.

So give it to them.

In the mobile forum I also go over where the qualifier should go in your message as well. A good qualifier will seal the deal for your text message ad nine times outta ten.

Mobile Marketing Solutions: Why 2012 Will See Some Mobile Marketers Fall Outta Sight

Over the holidays I was asked about the state of mobile marketing since I'm considered by my friends and family as the go to guy when it comes to all things mobile.

My response wasn't what they were expecting...and in fact left a couple of them stunned with their mouth's wide open.

Why?

Because I told them that mobile marketing in 2012 will become less and less about the smartphone and more and more about the location and what the consumer is using at that time to access the net.

Think of as being like the old hub and spoke.

With the hub being the internet and the spoke being the devices that access the internet.

See, in the past if you wanted to access the internet you had a few choices.

You could use your pc, your laptop or your netbook.

Blah blah blah...

Boring.....

Well fast forward to 2012 and now the same internet can be accessed by your pc, your laptop, your netbook, your smartphone, your in vehicle radio, your high end fridge, (yes you can access the net on them, I used one to look up receipes while cooking), your watch (there is a platform that uses android to give you access to the internet as well as coming equipped with the ability to download and access apps right from your wrist).

And there are other devices being loaded into the pipeline as I write this post.

So in the coming future, it will be more important to think about the consumer as a moving target and not to get so caught up on building your business around mobile phone marketing alone.

This was one of the main reasons why when I got into mobile marketing that I didn't name my website with the same name and instead I went with mymobilemediasolutions.com. Because there will soon be quite a few different types of media channels that will be accessed by a consumer who will be on the go.

Now you need to ask yourself...why are you limiting your business.

That's just plain silly.
